sunbonnet tutorial

Here’s the sunbonnet I made for Miss E.! It’s a sunbonnet in the face-obscuring Holly Hobbie vein, and it’s actually large enough to fit me. (And I’m just adorable in it, let me assure you.)

I love her giant sunbonnet, but when I do this again, I’m think I’m going to trim it just slightly, and make a smaller bonnet with a narrower brim.  (The tutorial below incorporates those modifications, so the bonnet piece below doesn’t match the bonnet piece above completely. Next time, I don’t think I’ll make the flat edge at the bottom of the bonnet–it seems to add unnecessary size.) Here’s the overarching idea, in sketches. One nice bonus for this sunbonnet? It includes a lining, which means it could totally be reversible!
